Federal Prosecutors Seek Death Penalty in CEO Murder Case


Federal prosecutors have officially filed their intent to seek the death penalty against Luigi Mangione, marking the potential for the first federal execution in New York City in 70 years. Mangione, 26, is accused of the premeditated murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on December 4. Prosecutors argue the killing was ideologically motivated, targeting Thompson for his prominent role in the healthcare industry to send a broader political message. The feds assert that Mangione poses a future danger, citing his expressed intent to attack the industry further. He also allegedly fled the scene and crossed state lines with a 3D-printed gun and silencer.

DHS Secretary's Purse Stolen in Washington, D.C.


On April 20, 2025, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's purse was stolen at a Washington restaurant. The suspect, Mario Bustamante Leiva, 49, was arrested and is reportedly a serial offender residing illegally in the United States. The purse contained Noem's DHS badge and $3,000 in cash. The Secret Service confirmed that Leiva did not pose a direct threat to Noem. ​

Milwaukee Judge Arrested for Obstructing ICE Arrest


On April 25, 2025, Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan was arrested by the FBI for allegedly helping a man evade immigration agents. Dugan is accused of directing the defendant to leave through a different exit to avoid ICE agents waiting to arrest him. She faces two felony counts of obstruction and concealing an individual.
